Tie between Goodson's & Gristmill. Goodson's has been doin' it longer though.

 

Goodson's has my vote. I'll have to try the thing with the onion ring batter at Chili's, though.

 

I tried it, it was very good. The onion ring batter.

 

Houston's Depot in Marble Falls, TX. Waitresses aren't too hard on the eye's either

I have tried Goodsons in Tomball but the best CFS in Texas is in Bastrop, TX. Located just west of the courthouse on Pine St. The Grace Miller (Gracie's). This one has to be the best ever. With the mashed potatoes, green beans and Texas toast. This was byfar the best home cooking I've had in awhile. You guys have to try it. It's worth getting off the betten path of hwy 71, 21 or 95. And the Gracies's outside patio, beer, wine and bands on friday and saturday nights, is a Great Plus also. Great Burgers too.

 

Another vote for Country Inn 1...Somerville Steakhouse...It's the Best!

 

I've heard about that place in Bastrop -- I'll have to give it a shot the next time I head over toward Austin.

 

Dixie House Cafe in Fort Worth is pretty dang good.

 

I don't know the name of the place - I'll have to get it from my buddy - but as I recall he says there's a small place in or around Crawford, close to GW's ranch, that has an awesome CFS.

 

I've been big on Babe's CFS for a while.
