Considering a '19 F150

Hi everyone,
Considering a new 2019 F150 XLT / FX4, 3.5EB, package 302a, 6 1/2' box, max tow.
Currently have an '09 F150 FX4, 5.4 that I've been very happy with. Have heard about the 10 speed transmission issues & have wondered about the longevity of the 3.5EB engine as I usually keep a truck for 10-12 years and go 200k plus miles. Anyone care to share their thoughts?

Thanks!

The newer versions have gotten a lot of the kinks worked out.

I'd feel safer with a 3.5l EB versus your current 5.4l 3V.

If I was in the market for a 1/2 ton truck, I'd go for the 3.5l EB.

I just traded my 2014 5.0 xlt 301a for a 2019 5.0 xlnt 302a package.
The ten speed transmission is the difference, I have about 1000 miles on it.
Slight vibration on the highway, whining noise I think is the transmission high pressure pump gears.
I get the same gas mileage as my steel body 6 speed, about 20 mpg overall.
I was surprised no climate control on sync 3 in a 302a package.
Nice truck overall!
I've heard the 2.7 eb smokes a 5.0...

One thing I did forget to mention. While the 3.5l EB has lots of power, is a lot more reliable than when it originally debuted, the 5.0l V8 has less moving parts. Something to consider when you are looking at parts replacement IF something expensive needs to be replaced, the odds are likely on the EB engine.

Otherwise, I would take any of the engines over the 3v 5.4l that you currently have.

My '07 has the reliable 4.2l V6 that has been around for a long time, and been around the block (or two).

I just bought a 2019 XLT crew cab with the 5.5’ bed and the 5.0L V8. This replaced my ‘05 XLT with the 5.4L Triton engine.

Towing power seems about the same, but the Tow/Haul transmission setting on the ‘19 is nice. I think the 10 speed transmission is smoother and a bit peppier than the old truck. After living thru the Triton engine and its snapping spark plugs, I decided I wasn’t too sure I wanted to trust Ford’s ‘innovative’ engineering and I went with the V8 over the 3.5 EB.

My XLT has the towing package and 302A package. Really nice and comfortable truck. Just returned from a 1800 mile trip to the backcountry of Ontario, Canada pulling our boat, and it handled like dream.

I recently swapped my 1999 5.4 for a 2019 5.0.
4,000 miles so far.
I loved the 5.4, but the rust was killing it after 20 years.
I also went with the XLT and 5.0L.
I heard the Eco Turbo engines aren't getting the promised fuel economy.
I wanted simple and reliable. Not my primary car, so gas mileage wasn't a concern anyway.

A couple things to consider, if still true:
The step tailgate is only $375. Why wouldn't you?!
GPS is $500 and there is a $300 credit?!
….and of course, you'll need to find your own 5L no boost decal.
