I have a 1995 F150, 302, 4R70W with a downshifting problem. It's an intermittent problem. Sometimes it will downshift fine, other times it will not. I replaced the TPS (code 122), but that didn't solve the issue - no change. The problem began when I was carrying a heavy load. Wiring and fuses seem fine.

 

Will it downshift manually?

 

Yes, it will downshift manually. Also, as speed decreases (like when making a turn), it will downshift to an appropriate gear without throttle input. It only has the issue when mashing the gas, or when rolling through the hills with cruise engaged, and the problem is intermittent.

 

Have you checked your fluid?

 

Yes, fluid is full, appears to be clean, no burned smell.
