Can the lower ball joints be replaced with out removing the control arm. I was told you can with a c-clamp press, the book says to remove it. any help would be great. thank you.

 

Yes, I replaced mine using an OTC ball joint press. The auto stores have the presses for loaners around here but I bought mine because I have a tool addiction. There are lots of utube videos that show you how to do it.

I replaced the lower left ball joint using moog k869t part, after torquing the nut i have a small amount of the shaft showing. This part i would think would be flush. The ball joint is the type that has the internal grease boot.

 

The new Moog ball joints do look like that.

 

I should have said were the shaft is showing between the bottom of the ball joint and the knuckle, were an external boot would cover
