Timing problem

I bought new heads for by 2002 F150 4.6 Windsor...the new heads have no timing dot marks, only lines and I used those. Carefully followed the manual, put it all back together, turn the key and clunk, it wont turn over. Now I have to take it all back apart and see if it bent a valve.. If no true timing marks are there, how do I tell if its right?
