2000 F150 Harley vs F150 Regular GCWR ?

I have a Ford F-150 Harley Davidson (2000) 2wd, V8 5.4 motor, automatic transmission and a rear axle radio of 3.73.
In the manual it indicates a “Maximum Trailer Weight” of 4,000 Lbs.(pounds); and other F-150 models with same specifications have a Maximum Trailer Weight of 8,700.

My question is if this is related with the Shock Absorber, Leaf Spring, Aluminum Drive Shaft of Transmission?

Dunno, but I think the Lightning of the same era does not have that much of a "tow rating" either...

Might be due to the supercharger in the sense that it has more power than the trans can handle towing a lot of weight?

Good luck!

It should have a 4R100 with a supercharged engine, and that's a pretty beefy tranny, they used it in the Super Duty with all 3 engines - 5.4, V10, and turbodiesel.

Whatever the reason, you should not try to tow more than the rating no matter what mods you do.

The 2000 Harley Davidson, no supercharged. It's a 5.4 V8 normal aspirate with 260 HP / 325 Torque

Thanks Mitch

It comes equipped with the 260 horsepower Triton™ V-8 engine powering 20 X 9-inch, five-spoke cast aluminum wheels on P275/45R 20 Goodyear Eagle tires, the first ever 20-inch wheels on a Ford production vehicle. The Harley-Davidson F-150 is lowered one inch, with revised springs and sway bar, adding to the vehicle's brawny appearance.

*No it is not supercharged.
*4000# is because of the suspension modifications.

It's a mix.

My '99 F150 XL SCAB for example, had a 1 piece aluminum driveshaft.

My '07 F150 XL RC for example, has a 2 piece steel driveshaft.

I guess it depends on who they source their parts from. Haven't been able to figure it out.

I was at a lot one time, and noticed that the exact same config of a truck one had an aluminum and one had a steel 2 piece -- prices of the truck were exactly the same too on the window sticker.

Yes, P275/45R 20 Tires, Max Load are 2,337 LBS at 44 PSI: have to be part of the case.
