Would you think maybe lack of power to the ignition and fuel injection might stop the motor?
Starter and alternator has little to do with it unless it is a no crank..
First what does the Theft light do?
Next what does the dash lamps do?
Next is there a CEL lamp on?
.
If no direction is indicated from the above, you have to begin the process of trouble shooting.
This does not mean changing parts on a guess.
First does the fuel pump run at key on for at least a few seconds?
If yes the computer is getting power so you can eliminate that as a cause.
If no, check fuses and PCM relay.
Next is the fuel pressure at the proper level?
Check with a gauge on the rail test port.
You have to get a beginning trouble indicator before replacing any parts.
Good luck.

would the theft device in my key shut the engine off if the battery in the key died?

No. The Theft system has no more to do with the engines after it begins to 'run'.
The 'KEY' has no battery in it.
The lock function does in the Fob but has no control over anything but the locks and Horn/lights.
You have to trouble shoot the cause.
Good luck.

other things to check...check/clean your MAF sensor and your air filter for damage and the connection to the Crankshaft sensor.

have you checked the things suggested?

okay so could it be the fuse-links if they break the alternator no longer can charge the battery right? after little bit the truck would die and not be able to start again or does the alternator and battery have different lines the engine isn't locked up

what is the voltage on the battery after it dies? If it is still 12.2v or higher, doubt that it is a battery of alternator issue

Crank or cam position sensor. Sure, either one can cause a shutdown, the computer will no longer know the position.
