2000 oil and filter

Seeing how the place I get my oil changed has gotten to busy to change my oil and filter when I知 able to take it in I知 going to start changing it myself.
Can some one tell me what oil and filter to purchase and start using.
it is a 2000 F150, 6 cylinder with 210,000 miles.

thank you

If you have your owners manual, it will be listed in there.

should be a MC FL400. I would steer clear of Fram.....WAY clear.

Yes, read your owner's manual. This stuff is in it.

Any auto parts place should have a catalog that you can use to look up the filter number as well as places like Walmart. Any 5w30 motor oil is okay. Everybody has their favorite oils but all of it is fine.

Owners manual:

Recommended oil and filter is Motorcraft 5W20 and FL400S. Both are usually available at Walmart.

For all of my vehicles with over 100K miles on them, I use Mobil1 High Mileage in whatever weight the vehicle calls for. As far as oil filters are concerned, any auto parts store can sell you the specific filter for your vehicle in your favorite brand. I use NAPA Gold because they are made by WIX and have a fantastic reputation for quality and performance. The NAPA label gives a better price in most cases.

Was 5W20 the recommended oil in year 2000 for the 4.2? I know that Ford initially recommended 5W30 for my new 2000 F150 5.4L engine.

The latest printing of the manual recommends 5w20 for all engines.

Ford changed the recommendation in 2002 (TSB 02-1-9) that moved most applications (but not all) that previously specified 5W30 to 5W20, including yours, for slight fuel economy improvements.

You can certainly use 5W30, it won't harm anything.
