My drivers side window won't go down.. up no problem,, ( 1997 XL 5 speed) checked out dc motor, reversed wires,, window goes down,, replaced switch no improvement.. checked the three relays in kick panel, all good... checked wires in door- body gap.. wow large dark wire broken.. fixed that still won't go down,,, right side window, all door locks,, interior lights all work fine.. so don't think it is GEM I'm at a loss....

 

Guess it was the GEM... found this on another forum.. Disconnect battery.. cut orange/ white stripe wire on female connector side to window motor... splice it to Tan/ light blue wire from window switch.. tape up old wires.. I don't have the detente that holds window to full down anymore.. but all my electrics work fine now..

General Electronics Module. It's attached to the fuse box under the dash.
