2004 XL front brake line not fitting correctly
Hey guys..
I wonder is anyone can help me with this problem we ran into today.
Long story short..I had a stuck caliper on my passengers side. Went to Napa and bought a replacement line It wouldn't fit to well but we managed to get the hard brake line connected to the front brake line that leads to the caliper. It leaked and leaked. No matter what we did...it still leaked. Thinking it was a bad line, we went and bought one from Oreillys. Same problem with the fitment.
We managed to clean out the caliper and get some gunk out of the caliper. We reinstalled the stock line that fit PERFECT with no leaks at all. Pistons work perfect and got a flush of new brake fluids.
Has anyone ever encountered this problem with the aftermarket front line connections? Everything looks the same but the 2 new lines kept leaking. Do these only take FORD lines that I need to buy at a dealership?
Nevertheless...I have brakes and they grab really good now. I got my money back, but here is a pic of the part from OREILLYS..

x2 on needing the copper washers. Maybe you had them and it didn't help?
You say it didn't fit properly - do you have pictures? If the joint was being held crooked by interference then you will never get a good seal.
This is for a 2004 - keep in mind that in 2004 there were 2 versions - the "heritage" that used some pre-2004 components and the new 2004 body style.
I'm not sure if the 2 versions had different brakes???
Perhaps you were ordering the wrong flex lines.
Well... definitely you were ordering the wrong flex lines... if they didn't fit perfectly then they were not the right ones!

But I suppose that would be difficult
and a google search confirms your statement.
I guess my memory is failing.
But, nonetheless, my previous statement holds true.
Is the OP somehow mixing heritage with the standard 2004 model year?
