I agree wholeheartedly. Was always nice to see tips and guidance from the many knowledgeable people on this forum.

I started using Duragloss products 1.5 years ago and have found them to be very user friendly. Also, Nu-Glass 755 is a great product for removing water spots from your glass.

A member here made a separate site for detailing and pretty much all the traffic here went over there.

A good portion of us got tired of battling all the advertisement and the few guys that responded to every thread with horrible advice.

Can you please send me a PM with that sites link? This forum is now one big advertisement headache.

I did this a looong time ago with my 97 F150 after a week camping in Idaho and eating dust the whole time...

After a spray down with some engine degreaser and rinse with a 'mist' pressure washer and some tire shine, it looked like this..

But, that was the last time I did that... I never got it that dirty again and what dust got on the covers, I just cleaned off...

Now that I have a brand new truck that's basically spotless in the engine compartment and the under side, I might try to maintain that as long as I can..

That's a night and day transformation. The end results look great.
It has been awhile since I have cleaned/detailed my engine bay. I have used classic GUNK engine cleaner along with CD-2 engine detail spray in the past.
What is your technique and products used?

Thanks Blue,

I don't recall the exact engine cleaner I used, but GUNK sounds familiar. I let it sit for a few minutes and then rinsed it off with my pressure washer, but I kept the tip at least 2 feet away, so it was just a mist and I kept it moving from side to side. Stayed away from the top and concentrated on the sides and front. Where there was wiring harnesses, I stayed away as much as possible and avoided the alternator all together. I think I even covered it with a plastic bag..

Once I had rinsed it, I started it up and took it for a run up and down the freeway and ran around town for a total of about an hour to really dry out the engine compartment.

Opened the hood and let it cool back down.

Then I used some clear tire shine spray and wiped it all down. It actually lasted quite a long time with just some wiping down from time to time when it got dusty and reapplying some tire shine every now and then..

It never got that dirty again, so I didn't have to do the wash part again.

That's somewhat similar to what I did. I unhooked my + battery cable and covered the alternator and computer with aluminum foil (it forms to the parts shape).
Upon seeing your clean engine after pic it made me want to clean my engine bay. Maybe one day this week. I too will post before/after pics.
