For those of you who have purchased the ebay kit - does it look like you could use a K&N filter with it? I already have 2 K&Ns, and would just as soon use them.

TIA

If you used the cone type of filter that comes with the cold air intake kit from K&N it should work. I do not know what the size in diameter is of the intake pipe. Maybe other out there could help you out with that. The filter taht comes with the cheap kit is similar in style/size to the K&N. The main difference is the cap on the end (and the quality I would imagine)

You don't get any instructions so search the forums for directions. The hose clamps are kinda cheap, You have to tighten the small ones really tight to keep the hoses from slipping off of the chrome. I broke one. You may have to buy some better ones. You'll have to take out your MAF sensor and mount to the bracket, be careful. Save your old intake in case you don't like it, want to sell the truck or transfer a new one.

I really like mine and you can't beat the price!

I bought one of the Ebay kits (cost me $70 to the door) and immediately replaced the filter with a 9" long Airaid filter (about $35). That filter is a 'big' inprovement over the filter that comes in the kit. I also replaced the small 1.5" hose clamps with some aftermarket ones that come with aluminum anodized sleeve covers. All said and told, I've got about $120 in the 'modified' kit and I think it looks pretty good and sounds even better. Here's a pic:

For those of you that buy Ebay kits without install directions, you can download a PDF install sheet from www.airaid.com that will take you step by step through the process. I used it and it worked out well.

Have you guys ever had any problems with your rig runnin, idling when it's cold out? One of my buddies knows some guys who have these setups, and their rides won't idle for ***** when its cold out. I'd sure hate to have to sit in my ride and baby sit it while it warmed up in the morning. thanks!

I had that problem due to the f*cking penny lodged in one of the rubber hoses. It started idling rough/low and then a couple days later she wouldnt idle at all...burnt up my IAC. Damn penny cost me $192!!!

I have a K&N drop in, gutted MAF, and removed the inner elbow but all the other stock parts. I still get the "moose call" noise from time to time? Do I need to replace the little black box?

Your guys guess is as good as mine!! I have no idea how it ended up inside the hose...I installed it directly out of the box and did not put it in. I sure felt like a dumbass when the mechanic asked me if I knew why a penny was wedged in the hose that caused the IAC to burn up. I said" A penny as in a one cent piece of money penny??" I have no clue to this day...but I do know that it didnt just "fall in there" and suspect where it was built or bought.
