OMG! Are you friggin INSANE? I was born in Kingsville and grew up in Riviera.

You are going to KILL PEOPLE draggin' them down there in July!!! Make the meeting no later than May, and no earlier than October. I'm talking about temperatures in the high 90's, occasionally into the 100's, with 80% or more humidity! For you brave people from the desert Southwest, South Texas temperatures can't match yours, but with all that wet Gulf air, the heat indexes make you look air-conditioned. I've lived in Vegas. It's more comfortable than Kingsville in July.

Having said that, as a Kleberg County native, I think the only thing cooler than Ford naming a truck package after the King Ranch, is that its owners would want to go down there to check it out.

Here are some tips: Tour the ranch, and see if you can get Tio to agree to a tour of The House. If you all like seafood, get reservations at the King's Inn; it's a South Texas institution since the 1930's. You MUST order the fried shrimp, the drum, onion rings, crab cakes, LOTS of their secret seafood sauce (IT'S HOT, BE CAREFUL), and DON'T get a plain salad! Get the avocado or the Bombay, or if you are adventurous and like anchovies, the "wop." For lunch, if you like Mexican, go to the Brush Country Inn (GET THE ENCHILADAS WITH ONIONS IF YOU CAN STAND THE GREASE!), if you want Barbeque, go to the Barn Door.

Enough about food. Go fishing at Kaufer-Hubert Park or the Riviera Beach Pier; it's some of the BEST saltwater fishing in the country. If you are Catholic (or even if you are a Protestant Christian; or even if you just want some meditative peace) go tour the Lebh Shomea House of Prayer in Sarita (ask for Brenda in the kitchen and tell her you know Philip). Oh, and if the King Ranch gets your rocks off, tour the Kennedy Ranch in Sarita.

As for finding any of these places, just stop at a convenience store and ask. It's a small place, everybody knows where everything is.

And if you just feel like "rollin'" after dark... 14th Street in Kingsville is "the strip." I bet a few Lightnings cruising up & down would get a LOT of attention.

Okay all,

How about the second week in May? I think I can swing this schedule and I sure don't want to go down there and miss meeting Lenny boy (Lenticular) and his better half.

If there are any objections then let me know if it's sooner, I can probably change, if it's later then Lenticular will be heading back across the pond and we'll miss him and his wifey.

Skagel,

I think you should come too but not without Tomas. How could you live with yourself knowing that we'll take all those pictures and you'll be driving a damn Explorer when you could be in Tomas. Hell, you could get one of those hauling services to drop Tomas off at the airport in Houston and drive him from there. Or, you could get one of those C17 Guppy Transport planes to carry it as cargo and drop it out with a parachute from 30,000 feet! What a ride that'd be if someone had the ***** to ride Tomas all the way down on the chute.

Hey Rock,

What are your plans, I don't think I've heard you mention anything about the possibillity of meeting the rest of the crazies down in South Texas?

Hey dufunnel,

Didn't you say your wish was to come to the King Ranch in May? Maybe this is your chance to join in on the fun too.

Later,

DaveMan

having one of those transporters is probably not out of the question, but having him dropped from a plane at 30,000 feet....well, that I will have to think about...ummm.....NO!!!!

King Ranch...

WOW! I actually found my way over here.. yall know how it is.. being on one site for so long, ya forget how every works on another... anywho! I definetly want to do this... been wanting to go check out the King Ranch since the day I picked her (Sasha) up!!

Sasha now (as of last week) sits 6" higher with a Fabtech 4X4 6" Lift and has some 35" Procomp M/T shoes. Can't wait to head down there!!

Mucho Thanks to Sarah for keeping me informed on this. Dave, she emailed you my email address, please keep me updated if possible.

I just emailed The King Ranch visitors center today inquiring about our little Ford group trip out there. As well as directions on getting there from Houston (where I am). A shame we won't get to meet TOMAS! :-( oh well, there will be other times....

Thanks again all! and for not hating me from being from the other side of the tracks (f150world) .. ;-)

Hey txtxcowboy,

Hey man, lets see some pictures of that jacked up KR!

Welcome aboard mate! Hope you'll be able to meet with us down in Kingsville. I'm going to go ahead and say I'll be there the second weekend of May, which is May 10-13. We need to decide which day of the three is best to meet, Friday, Saturday or Sunday? I really don't care which day it is but we will need to determine it in order to make plans.

Later,

DaveMan

I would prefer we head to the Ranch on Saturday (EARLY).. it would be nice to have a day to recoop. As for the pics... here is a link... My broadband has been down for 4 days.. so uploading is murder and I don't think I can post a link to my gallery over at "the world" so here is one I painfully uploaded at 56K.. LOL!

Thanks!!

Hey txtxcowboy,

How much did that car wash cost you? Looks like you had a chic working on each body part, man I'm jealous

So, lets hear from the rest of the truck owners that are thinking of meeting down at the KR on Saturday, the 11th of May.

Hey, 11 is my lucky number!

Later,
DaveMan
