SuperCrew Subwoofer box plans

The attached plans are for a sub box for a SuperCrew for 1 - 10" woofer. The box is designed to sit under the rear driver's side seat.
http://mysite.verizon.net/res1g8hf/s...s/subplans.pdf
It does prevent the seat from folding flat but allows enough seat tilt to access amps installed in the rear storage compartment. It is not bolted in so can be removed if full seat flattening is required.
The plans assume previous experience with building speaker boxes but this is a pretty easy project. Materials are inexpensive; wood and carpet should run about $20 or less.
The size of the box limits subwoofer mounting depth to 5-1/4 inches so keep that in mind.

Oops, looks like they won't take a PDF attachment. Use this link:

The similarities are probably due to the space we are trying to fit the box in. This box is actually an enlarged version of an 8" sub box I made last year for my SCrew.
You can see the original 8" box at www.f150world.com/Crewl1
The 8" version was fine, but I wanted more bass, so I decided to widen it to fit a ten.
The box volume was dictated by the woofer I put in it

You say you want more bass. Of course the bigger box helps, but what speaker will you get?

Since the box is for a 10" sub and the volume falls into the range of many 10's the only thing you have to watch for is the mounting depth limit.
I have a cheap Radio Shack Pro Series in it that I was using for testing, and it sounds great. I'll probably put an MTX or JL Audio in it when I get the cash.

That box calculates to .56 cu ft.
Internal dimensions of 22.5 x 4.5 x 9.5 /1728 =0.556640625

Am I doing this wrong?

Norm, you are correct, I goofed on my calcs.

Unfortunately the computer where I created the original drawing got wiped out, and I didn't back it up, so I am just going to remove the drawing to avoid confusion.

I'll leave this up to warn everyone:

The previously mentioned drawing incorectly states the box volume as .75 CU.
The correct volume is .56 CU.

Here are the previously mentioned plans again. Since I lost the original file, here is a scan with the correct volume indicated. Sorry for the misinformation-

Post fireing?

I was just wondering is your sub down fireing? I am getting 2 10's subs put under the back seat(1997 f150 extended cab), its getting built by a local shop (ATU). I am wondering to fire the subs up or down and what would sound better? Any replys would help. Oh yeah I don't know anything about the box but the subs going in it are Rockford fosgate HE2's and the amp is an Audiobahn A2150. Thanks.

Question .56 cu ft too small?

Isn't .56 cu ft too small for ANY 10" sub? The smallest requirement i have seen is .70 cu ft. What sub will work in this small space?

There are a few 10's out there with pretty small sealed box volume requirements, for example the JL Audio 10w6 has a range of .4 to .8 for a sealed box.

Are there any boxes that can fit under the captain chairs in the back of a supercrew such as the harley-davidson edition?
