Cool Planes 'n Trains 'n Dames 'n Lightning Models of various types

Evening All:

Several have asked me to update the thread on the various things available in smaller scale Lightnings.

1. RC versions
There are two basic alternatives, buy one of the standard Tamiya kits from Tower Hobbies, your local hobby shop or eToys.com I think.
Cost you in the neighborhood of $220 for everything you need, battery, charger, radio etc.
Or, buy my HobbyTown USA special. This is a full racing chassis from Tamiya, not the stock one. It has full ball bearings, metal oil filled shocks, special wheels and tires and so on. I complete this with a good Futuba 2 channel AM radio, a good 15 minute charger/discharger, an electronic speed control, a Trinity or equivelant modified stock motor and a good battery pack. That is about $600 at retail, around $ 350 at my store sale price and $270 is my f150online price. Complete pro assembly, painting and testing is $70 if you wish. UPS is $10. So, it is either $280 or $350. We can also modify it further with upgraded battery packs, motor and speed control. The $270 one is half again as fast as the stock Tamiya and my standard modified (like mine) is about twice as fast. Also costs $385 or so assembled.

2. Plastic 1/25 scale Lightnings. These are due any day. Must be assembled and painted. Retail is $11 at your local hobby store. My price is $7 plus $2 UPS. Not too good a deal, but I can't buy them cheap enough.

3. Die Cast Lightnings. None are planned yet, but I did meet with Ertl and Monogram-Revell at the Chicago Hobby Show 2 weeks ago and they are both seriously looking at it.

If any interest in the RC still exists, e-mail me at Mostoysinc@AOL.Com or call me at 770-426-8800 or 770-426-8034 (home). I take all major cards and checks/money orders. store address is HobbyTown USA 800 E. Barrett Pkwy #20 Kennesaw, Ga. 30144.
I found a few more of the racing chassis and can now make about 18 more kits up if anyone needs them.
Sorry for the length, but too many people were still asking for details.
Bill

Bill,

I think my wife will be calling you in the morning to place an order for your assembled and painted (Black, please) RC Lightning for my birthday or Christmas present. I've been extra good lately so as not to give her any reason to change her mind. So, if a lady by the name of Toni rings you up tomorrow, just play dumb and tell her how smart she is to be so good to her husband.

Thanks,

Mike Philpott
