get on ebay and look up Magnaflow. you can get a pair of hi flo cats to replace all of your factory cats. Theyre around 100 bucks a pair shipped. Look into Magnaflow mufflers and dual tailipipe systems. I heard one guys truck at a truck meet in Columbia MO a few weeks ago--hes got a 5.4 with hi flo cats , magnaflow mufflers, and dual tailpipes, and it sounded great!! I have all 4 stock cats in place with straight pipes and i think my exhaust sounds pretty mean. you could have a muffler shop cut out your muffler and weld in straight pipe or glasspack for 30-40 bucks, there will be a big sound difference with straight pipe!
Theere will be more replies shortly......look around theres lots of good exhausts out there, you have to find one for your liking. If you want loud, put on a set of hi flo's or eliminate your cats all together, and put on stragiht pipes or a loud glasspack. Youll be ALOT louder than that POS Dodge

If you want it louder, just remove the muffler. If too loud, get a smaller one. In general, the smaller the volume of the muffler, the louder it will be.

I have the same vehicle. I have installed 2 flowmaster si/do. 40 series first; installed by accident by shop. Very load, and drone on the highway.

The shop reinstalled a 50 series SUV model that I originally wanted. Great low growl, a bit throaty, but sweet at highway speeds.

Give me an e-mail if you have any more questions

I have an '03 F-150 with the 4.6 in it. I had a 40 series Flowmaster on it. Got drunk one day and cut it off. It does sound better, but I lost a bit of torque. It revs out harder though. I only have 33's on my truck and I can feel the lost torque. In my opinion (opinions are like a$$holes, everybody has one!!) Get hi-flo cats and a 40 series delta Flowmaster if you are pushing bigger tires or towing. Or just dump the muffler all together if you are running street tires and don't tow much. It sounds good on the 4.6, so it should sound better on the 5.4

I have one single in dual out flowmaster 40 series on my 04 and it is LOUD. It sounds fantastic and I can't imagine you would want something louder than it.

yeh flowmaster is usually the loudest.. but the new 2004 have the quiet steel so u cant hear anything but if u live in texas u dont have so many emision standards so u dont need mufflers cause in texas the Cat is a muffler so u dont need a muffle on your car just run pipes straight out of the Cats:-p trust me its loud. my dad was mechanic for ford for 19 years.i'm not much for noise louder my truck is the more cops it attracts. also i prefer to be able to sneak up. with 320HP.

Try JBA Racing exhaust systems. I personally haven't tried it but their website has quite a few clips of systems installed on other vehicles and from what I can hear, they sound pretty loud. JBA is based in So. Cal and make hi performance parts for cars and trucks. Their website is http://www.jbaracing.com

Ive heard flowmasters 40 and 50 series on 4.6's and 5.4's. Theyre about the loudest of the muffled exhaust systems, but i still think straights sound the best. ROAR!!

I have a 2003 FX4 5.4 with just a Flowmaster 50 (3" in/out) in place of the stock muffler. I kept everything else stock and it works great. NICE sound at start up and under throttle. Great low rumble at idle but otherwise no excessive droning. LOVE IT
