Well it took three years, but I am finally getting a Lightning.

Ordered a White one two weeks ago. (Sold my white '99 4x2 Short bed flareside v6 5sp - a great truck but it just wasn't a lightning)

When I called the dealer yesterday, he did not have any information about when they would get it.

Does anybody know the approx wait time currently? Do I have to keep bugging my dealer for info or is their another way of tracking my truck through the process?

This is the first time I ever ordered a car/truck so I don't know the ins & outs.

Any insight would be appreciated.

We order 2nd week of November and had it 5 weeks later. This was when they have most of the preorders, so I figure you may not have to wait too long. We were first told that it would not be ready until April or May. So its a tough call, but the wait is worth it.

 

A friend of mine emailed me yesterday that he had ordered a black 02. The dealer told him "4-5 weeks".


they are worth the wait !

dealer said 4 weeks.He called SVT right when i was there,Make sure your dealer did infact order it and isnt waiting till they order more trucks for inventory.Ive seen them ordered and 3 weeks later kaboom like my 00. On the other hand,my 99 took all of 5 months,Something to do with the tonneau cover option i think?

 

I waited about 5-6 weeks for mine. I ordered Dec 28 2001 and picked it up Feb 4 2002. You have to make sure the dealer has a vin number for the truck that way you know it is being built or it is already finshed and being shipped. I would also think color would have something to do with it and how much volume that dealer sell's, the more they sell they WILL get it faster.

I ordered my silver 2002 L @ 4 pm & the dealer, 60 miles away, delivered it to my house @ 5:30 pm that evening. Some dealers have them in stock & are motivated to sell. So you should have yours in an hour and a half.

 

Mine only took 5 months. Almost 2 years latter and we still love each other.

 

I believe they are a high volume SVT dealer, so hopefully it won't take too long.

I'll call to get the VIN number. They did say it was ordered a week ago Monday.
