Just bought a 08 king ranch crew cab. I have the sync gen 1 system but my stereo guy says that I can't pull that nor is there a dash kit available either.

Has anyone ever came across this? Tried to change yours? I can't be stuck with the outdated system in this truck...

Are you sure it's an 08, and not an 09? 2004-2008 did not get sync, and it was real easy to put in an aftermarket radio. In 2009 the radio changed and you could get sync. If it's an 09, check out crutchfield, they have dash kits for the 09-14 non nav radios. And look into a maestro RR, it allows you to retain sync and the steering wheel controls.

Does your dash and radio look similar to this? It's a 2004-08 dash and radio setup.

Did you ever figure this one out? I have the system in the bottom pic and am trying to find any aftermarket options for mine. Crutchfield recommends not changing it due to the climate controls going through the sync system. Anyone know if there are any aftermarket options for this?
