all you 1/2 tons get out of our section of the forum!

the 2 major flaws w/ the 6.0 is EGR and headbolts, most people have both of those issues resolved.

tbowman, what MPG city are you getting?

Now pulling more wieght well than obviously yes a PSD will out pull the lightning. I didnt mean to jump **** like that but I cant stand when people say well my trucks better than yours stuff like that. Now if your gonna talk that stuff to a 7.3 or 6.4 go ahead but come on talking down to an f150, thats two totally different worlds...
How much work does it take to get 12sec out of a lighining? Just a tune? Like I stated in my last post, it's not everyday you see a lightning towing, didn't say it couldn't, just a rare sight. Didn't mean to offend anyone.
I'd still put money on a 6.0 towing a corvette vs a lighting towing a vette. I'm a big fan of the 7.3 PSD as thats what I used to have, but with just a tune a 6.0 will outrun a 7.3 with a tune pretty easily. Then a 6.4, well thats a whole new ball game with a common rail fuel system.

I'll edit my previous post so I don't offend anyone else( or attempt) I didn't mean to imply that a psd will run 12sec with just a tune.

Maybe you should do more than look at a picture before you make assumptions.

i get 15.1 city, 17 highway on a performance PHP custom tune. Oh i know the 6.0s make good power cheaper than a 7.3 but will it out pull and get better fuel mileage? I just know from the people I know. My dad has a 03 7.3 with a sct on the lowest tune and he can out pull and better fuel milage than my cousins 05 6.0 with a diablo tuner. He only got 14 hwy and city mpg with the 6.0 running 35's. my dads 7.3 is running 305's and he get 19mpg cruisin the hwy

For starts diablo doesn't = SCT, then add custom tunes and the sct is even better, and 33's on the 7.3 vs 35's on the 6.0. Bill is a good guy(PHP) from everything I've read about him and his posts. He tunes quite a few PSD's over on powerstrokenation. I only get 18.XX on the hwy on a 32in tire. I run a 150hp progressive tune from matt at Gear head automotive, have been since last OCT. To be honest I've never checked the milage around town, as was stated earlier if I wanted milage I would have a diesel jetta. If I wanted to go fast I'd get a mustang, or if I won the lotto a Ford GT.
My dad has an 01 psd, I had a 95psd with a lot of work done, my 95 would embarass my 05, but all I have is a tune on my 05.

That was an honest question earlier, what does it take to make a Lightning run 12's?

What did I assume, I already said you could tow with a lighting, or 150 for that matter? So you're telling me with equal mods that lighting towing the same wieght could hang with a psd?

Thanks for the
one back at ya

Not tryin to stir the pot here guys. I found this site when I was lookin to PTM my mirror covers and paint my DIY harley headlights on my truck. Liked the site so thought I would join. Thought maybe I could help the diesel guys, if they had a question that I might know the answer to, if not I could refer them to someone who could help them and is reputable in the diesel industry especially the PSD performance industry.

Sorry to the O.P. for derailing your thread. I could care less about TOTM honestly. I just made a comment about a truck in this thread

I can't understand why people lower trucks. No matter how low it is, it's still a truck and still handles like crap. My '06 GTI gets about 30 MPG and is more fun to drive fast than any truck. I can take curves at 120 MPH in my GTI that I can't take at 80 MPH in my truck.

Because the Ford Ranchero isn't in production anymore.

There's no accounting for taste. Ford stopped making a car/truck, so people have to make their own abominations.

I actually like a lowered truck. In fact I plan on making my own abomonation as freakyFX4 put it, LOL. I plan to lower my 4X4 by putting 2wd coils up front and pulling the rear block out. Then someday add a set of 20 or 22 in wheels with 33in tires. Different strokes for different folks. I hear the same from my wife, "Why lower a truck? Why not just buy a car?" LOL I always tell her, If you have to ask you just wouldn't understand.

with a heavy foot im seeing 15 mpg city on my extreme street tune pushing 420 hp/740 tq.

highway doing 70 i see 19 mpg, was seeing 22 when i was doing 60-65 for a short stretch. once i start going above 70 my mileage plummets drastically.

freaky, im not a lowered guy by any means but i can handle a rear shackle drop on a 2wd to level it out and some 22's long as theres some rubber on them.
