Autospring install with photos
Hey, I just put on the Autospring Lift kit and brought the truck to Ford for a alignment. They are telling me I need to have caster and camber kits installed to correctly align the vehicle. Does this sound right to anybody?
Great Write-up! I'm going to install my 2" AS leveling kit today and had a question. Where is the best place to put the jack stands and I only have a 150 torque wrench... do I need to go get a bigger one? No one in town lets lowners out for the 225. Or can I just tighten it more and it will be fine? Thanks guys!

I installed mine yesterday, and it was a breeze with the step by step instructions and awesome pictures. Got mine done in 1.5hrs by myself. First one took me an hour, and the second in only 30 minutes. Thanks again for you dedication to making life easy for the rest of us!
what will cause boot tearing is:
1. improper install
2. driving through brush and very rocky terrain where objects can penetrate into the suspension
3. prolonged 4x4 with the front suspension at full droop
4. old age
my AS 2.5 has been on almost 1.5 years with 0 issues. I do 4x4 at least once per month and my boots are just fine.
since you've had 4 boots go bad, IMO you are suffering from a bad boot installation. these front axles only turn when in 4x4. so they don't rotate with just everyday driving.
that is funny. the AS or any other kit (NCD, Hell Bent) for that matter will not cause boot tearing.

They have replaced the boot 1 time and the axle 3 times
as for bad 4x4 as I stated last time was on a washboard gravel road towing my camp trailer. So what do I have to look for ?Had dealership look at front end nothing wrong . It all points to the AS .
once again. the only possible way a boot is going to get torn due to a leveling kit is by rotating. just sitting there will not. and even then, during the rotation, the boot is going to need some foreign object to get up in there and do the actual tear.
I've been in 4x4 hi for litterally miles with my AS installed. 1 time even used up 1 entire tank of gas (30 gallon tank) while wheeling up in Washington. if that didn't tear the boot, nothing will.
that front axle doesn't turn unless you are in 4x4. so now your problem seems to be expanding. why is the axle turning? a bad IWE or vacuum pump maybe?
oh yeah, and the axle cannot be blamed on the AS either. same as the boot. while the leveling kit does place an angle on the cv joint and boot, it ain't extreme.
I think there is something else going on here, and the leveling kit took the fall for it

had a questions, getting ready to put my AS 2.5 kit on tomorrow, have wrenches and tools, but dont have a torque wrench, is it neccessary to have one? or will it be fine tightning using the wrench?
I tried getting mine off but I got stopped at the 30mm bolt. I could not get it to loosen up without a impact wrench. It was on very very tight. I even put my back against a wall and pushed on the wrench with my leg and it didn't budge....
Well, I just installed my AS 2.5 kit this morning along with the help of my dad. Have to say I am very very pleased! Not as hard as we thought it might be to install...great write up!!
