Washing Towels

So when you guys wash your towels off, such as the microfiber ones you use to wipe wax off, or dry your car, do you wash them all together and do you keep the same ones for the same purpose, or do you just take them as a freshly washed batch of towels to use on anything? Do you wash the towels after every use?

This is may be a dumb question but I am just wondering.

I keep towels that are for product removal together, interior/glass towels together, dirty towels, etc. Yes I wash them after every use. Only use straight Tide, no additives and no fabric softner. Also during the tail end of the rinse cycle put a tbls of distilled white vinegar for every towel. I let my towels air dry.

Why the vinegar. So you use towels as removal towels, not like this is the 80 removal towel and 80 only right?

The vinegar is supposed to help keep the mf strands in shape, I believe. I use one towel per product during the detail. Afterwards they are washed and I just grab one and use it for one product, etc.

I have towels that are specifically dedicated to specific tasks -- drying, wax and/or polish removal, windows, etc.

I even have drying towels that are dedicated to specific vehicles. All are generally washed together by category, using detergent only an using and extra rinse cycle.

The worst thing you can do, in my opinion, to detailing towels is add fabric softener to the rinse cycle!

The vinegar finishes with removing the soap residue.

I dry mine in the dryer set to medium low heat, permanent press cycle with cooldown, and do NOT use a dryer sheet. I will wash and dry them with other items, but NOT anything that can produce lint. If any of them have been used to apply product, I will presoak them in Dawn and rinse them and wring them out.

I thought the vinegar also helps keep the mf strands in shape, almost like one of those microfiber additives they sell.

I forgot to mention, I usually do two rinses as well.

Thumper, you and I are in the same boat... I use the washer on hot for the first cycle, and then rinse 2x on warm, pull them out and let them air dry too... I may have to try the distilled vinegar...

I don't wash them hot, I wash and rinse them warm only.

I throw my used towels into a bucket after each use, and have differant colored towels and differant nap towels for the various tasks.
I however wash them all together.
I use Liguid Cheer and MF Rejuvinator every time. I also use a double rinse cycle
I want to try this product to see how it performs.

I just used it for the first time last night. They're definitely soft as the day I got them. I suggest maybe pre soaking them in an all purpose cleaner or something first to help break up the dirt. Maybe mix with some of your favorite liquid detergent as well. It won't really do the trick on heavily soiled towels. Unless I maybe didn't put enough in.

Are you referring to the CG MF Cleaner?
