No regrets other than the fact that gas is over $3/gal now and the truck stays parked most of the time while I drive a li'l Toyota!!
LOL, which dealer? I'm down here in Baton Rouge and I bought mine in Jackson as well. It's ~200 miles from Baton Rouge. I bought mine from Watson b/c I couldn't find a long wheelbase KR 4x4 anywhere near me. I already knew exactly what I wanted, had x-plan, had a buyer lined up for my existing truck and they even had an old couple drive it down to my front door.

So when all was said and done I walked about 10ft to get in my new truck!

Bottom line, I am looking for a loaded FX4 which stickers for around $42,700 loaded the way I like. And, due to limited availability, the closest one (with the color I want) is located over 450 miles away according to mapquest. So, rather than have a local dealer locate one and drive it themselves, I think I am going to drive the 450 miles and buy the truck. This will allow me to work out a better deal anyway and not worry about someone else driving my truck. I will keep you all updated. The only other option is to order one through my local dealer, but I can't order an 06 anymore and its hard to tell when I would get an ordered 07'.
I was going to go through a dealer trade from Lincoln, NE, but backed out because of fees and deposits required. They were not even going to let me look it over without some $$. So, I went down close to Denver to take one that did not have a solid rear glass or a large fuel tank. No leaks yet from the power slider (knock on wood), and I just stop more often to fuel.

paulphilly,
Where abouts in S-OH? I grew up outside of Pomeroy. I went to Ricard Ford (automall) outside of Columbus for some good deals in the past. Good Luck.

I drove accross country and drove as fast as I possibly could (I probably averaged 80-90mph) and slept for only a few hours, I believe. California to Indiana. I flew into Chicago, took a bus a few hours away, stayed at a hotel who almost did not let me in, in the middle of the night in freezing weather (damn it was cold). Very nice holiday inn and I hit it off with the front desk employee, who let me in for a cheap price and let it slide since I was under 21. I would have been screwed. Other than that the trip was fantastic, I couldn't believe how different every state was and had something interesting to say about them all. Is there anyone who has driven further than this? The truck was worth it, fully loaded lariat exactly as I wanted (except rear parking sensors and heated seats, those parking sensors just cost me around $500 in damage to the mothers car including front fender, bumper and headlight...all smashed in bad, absolutely nothing to my bumper, not a scratch). Damn the sensors.

Drove about 25 miles. It was a dealer trade (my dealer traded an 06 Mustang for my truck), so it had about 90 miles on it when I got it - but my warranty starts from the 90, not 0.

I drove zero miles to buy the last 2 vehicles, did it all by internet and never talked to a live person until we had a deal. Bought a Honda Accord from a dealer 100 miles away and when they delivered it to the house that was the first time I even saw it. Two old guys delivered it and headed back, they were having a good time on their road trip. Bought my F150 from a local dealer who found it at a dealer 175 miles away. Ironically it was the same one the local dealer had traded to that distant dealer a month earlier so they went and brought it back. Let a local dealer do the searching and leg work if they want your business.

Did you salesman tell you that? The warranty on Ford vehicles is only till 36,000... not one mile more. I was telling people the same thing too, but my sales manager yelled at me and told me to quit telling people that. I guess for a reason... maybe Quintin or someone else can clarify?

South Point is about 1 1/2 hours south of Columbus near Portsmouth, OH. I am 5 minutes from Huntington, WV and 5 minutes from Ashland, KY. So, I live right smack dab in the tri-state area. I found 2 trucks here locally that has the exact equipment/options that I want, but unfortunately they are not the color that I want. They are red and white/gray. I found a dealer about 450 miles away that has the FX4 equiped the exact way I want with the color (black) that I want. So, I could have my dealer here locally go and get it, but I am not real big on letting someone else drive my truck. So, more than likely, I am going to make the 6 hour drive to pick it up. And, since its 5 miles from Washington D.C., my fiancee' and I are going to do some sight seeing after the purchase. So, this will turn out to be a little minature vacation.

I called Ricart in Columbus and they had several black lariats, but no black FX4 with the luxury package, 3:73 gears, power sunroof and rear slider, etc. I have probably spent over 10 hours on the ford website searching dealer inventories and slowly increasing the search radius until I found one in nothern Virginia. I could order an 07', but who knows when it would be here??

That's what the salesman told me (I'm sure it is on the paperwork as well). It's just like if I had bought of the lot and the truck had several test drive miles on it. Every truck I've bought has had the warranty start from the day/mileage that I pick it up and not from 0.

Drove from Birmingham to Memphis, roughly 300 miles. Spent the evening in Memphis on Beale street sampling the live music. Have exactly the options I wanted and nothing more. 06 F-150 XL 4x4 RC, sandstone, with Tan interior.

Went to 2 ford dealers and a 2 dodge dealers. I actually signed on a ram 2500 but backed out of the deal for the 150.

All that driving and I got the truck from a dealer 3 miles from home that does alot of buisness with me. They ordered the truck from ford and I got it within 3 weeks.

About 3/4 mile.

If you're in Ohio, 5-7 hours will likely put you on Ford's doorstep in Dearborn.
