Ok, my truck was approved by Ford to have some warranty paint work done on the bed, roof, and pass. door. At the same time, they are changing the silver 2-tone to black for me. Minimum of 4 days, possibly up to 6. Ford says without ESP warranty, they cannot give me a loaner vehicle. Is this true? Why would I buy ESP with a 36 month lease truck? I'm not that dumb. Please help. I don't know if I can figure out alternate transportation method. Thank in advance.

Yes they sould loan you a car, but in a worst case scenario you could bill the car rental to your insurance if you have that in your coverage.I have never had to use it but its there just in case.Only cost like an extra dollar a month.

 

It's right in the standard factory warranty (which I assume you are still within...) that if they have to keep your car overnight for a warranty repair, they have to provide you with a loaner vehicle. It can be an Aspire, or a Lincoln, but they have to give you one. Call them and raise holy hell! Call Ford's service line and tell them the same thing...

 

Ford gives dealers an allocation of rental reimbursement for "customer satisfaction." Push them, they will give you a car!

 

pardon my shoddy facts, but heres what happened to me.

had new door in the shop for 'crack' issue on nov 24 00. last monday they took the truck in the shop to do the job (still dont have it back).

i called ford about a loaner which they said they would 'check out' and call me back.

when they called back they told me i would get the loaner only due to the fact that i 'enrolled' in an 'f150 club' mailer that they had sent to 'chosen f150 truck owners'.

i remember enrolling online (ford sent me a letter in the mail about the site), poked around the site a little, and that was it. i dont remember what the site was, and have received no electronic mail from them since i signed up.

alls i know is that it appears to have gotten me a free loaner while the truck is in the shop. its been 9 days so far and although i am upset about still not having my truck (i am driving in snow and ice in a taurus) i would be fuming if i didnt have these wheels.

whats kind of funny is when i was at the body shop in november they told me it would be a couple of days to get the door, then a day or two to do the job. i feel like they have me by the short ones and i dont want to do anything to annoy them until the truck is back in my hands.

it didnt work like that.

ford sent me a post-card type letter in the mail talking about this special 'f150 club'. on the card was the website, user-id, and a password i had to enter when i first went to the site.

i remember being very unimpressed and never went back to it. they also never emailed me anything back regarding the site, perhaps they dropped it due to lack of interest?? i remember after i went to the site i purposely didnt bother writing the url down as it didnt seem worthy to do so.

i thank god i did go to it though cause it did get me the loaner while my truck is in the shop (at least thats what the ford rep said when i was on the phone with her).

sorry, but even if i had the url it would not help, you would need the card that ford sent with the user id and password. maybe somebody on this page had a more positive experience with it.

Yep, thanks all. I b*tched enough, and got a loaner. They gave me a 2001 Ext Cab Ranger too. Not a bad little truck...and I mean little. Anyway, just got back from picking up my truck. Looks awesome.

Here's a recap, for those that care...

They had to repaint the roof and both sides of the flareside bed under warranty due to a really horrible factory job. I was told that my truck should have never even gotten past quality control with the type of paint job it had. There was overspray in the door jams from the silver lower 2-tone, fish eyes in the paint, primer showing through on the bed just behind the cab where the indention in the flareside is, and there were 3 spots on the roof where the paint had cracked due to someone screwing something into the interior roof panel. To top it all off, it has acid rain damage sooo bad, they were surprised I was even sold ths truck. I am returning it for the hood to be repainted soon too. While they were working on it, I had them go ahead and change the silver 2-tone to dark charcoal like on the Expy XLT Sports. It looks great. I have to wait a bit to wet sand and buff the paint line between the black and the charcoal. Removed all remaining decals. SAWWEETTT!!!! I will post pictures as soon as I get my digital camera working again. Promise.
The warranty paint work turned out great as well. I'm once again, proud to drive my truck.
