Big difference your paying 600. I wouldnt worry to much about the engine. Sitting isnt really a problem for just the engine. I've seen deal like this before and the engines are always just fine....

Stick a fuel pressure gauge on there on see whats happening with that. Shold be close to 40 psi. You may have to have the engine scanned with a good scanner. Dealer or a snapon.

I'd do the wood on the floor set it on the rotors. The best places for chain attachment is the head boltholes in the front and the back. Simple engine removal really. Compared to the newer ones..

The only way to test coils is with an expensive OBD II scan tool that has live missfire mode 6 capability. They can bench test good and still missfire randomly.

Do you get a gauge sweep om start up ever? The speedo and tach sweep all the way? that would be a connection issue and the PCM will reset every time it does it.

The PCV elbow. Main source of these problems. Follow the PCV line to the back of the throttle body where it attaches to the intake 9 time out of 10 thats the problem.
