Problem wiring Pioneer P920XM in 04

Hey guys....man, its been a long time since I posted here. Was just installing the Pioneer GEX-P920XM as an add-on to my Pioneer headunit. It says it requires a constant 12v source. So I tapped into the yellow wire for the headunit. I use my multimeter, and test the plug that goes to the P920XM and it shows 12V - awesome....but then when I turn the key to the on position, it drops to less than 1v. So I tried tapping into the 12v power for the cigarette lighter - exact same issue.

What am I doing wrong? Should I just run it straight to the battery and stop trying to tap into things?

Thanks guys!!!
