If you have the factory Sirius option and change out to an aftermarket unit you can use the factory connection behind the radio and utilize the factory roof mounted antenna. This is of course assuming that you are changing to an aftermarket headunit.

This is how I did mine. I have an Pioneer XM aftermarket unit. I had to remove the plastic part of the connector from the factory wire, but the metal portion hold to the Pioneer unit just fine. I'll dig around to see if I have a pic of this.

I have mine on the front of the roof on the drivers side. Routed the wire down the windshield trim, along the door jam and under the dash and found a place to bring the wire out so there's no wires hanging.

I just have mine sitting up in the very corner of the dash on the passenger side, in the little area closest to the windshield on the other side of the accent piece that run down the dash. I had it in a similar spot on my old truck and I rarely have any reception issues. Every once in a while down a road with a lot of tree overhang it will go out but not often. I just ran the wire along the floor tucked under carpet and up the side where you don't see it at all.

I ran mine through the firewall, and under the cowel. It's secured with double sided 3M tape, the same stuff you use for the vent visors. I had it inside on the dash before, but I was getting alot of dropouts. I still get a few on heavy cloud days, but it's much better now.

I have not had a single issue getting reception and have had it for over a year and a half.

Did mine like many other and ran it though the 3rd brake light. It literally took 2 minutes to do and it is not noticeable at all unless you are standing in my bed.

Anybody got pics of the wire running down the windshield trim, then through the door? Sounds similar to what I did on my '02 2500HD. That's where I want. On the roof, front right corner above windshield.

Thanks,

David
