Pictures of 3rd Brake Light Install

Ok i can't figure out how to post pictures on this thing. I have posted a few in my profile showing how i ran the antenna out through the brake light last night. Looks great!!

Has anyone had any trouble with this leaking? I'm not so much concerned for the light as I am the interior roof.

THANKS!

Little clear silicone is your friend. Who is going to actually climb up on your truck and notice a little clear silicone anyhow.

at least use an automotive product..silicone is not meant for automobiles...period. try a dum dum or a dab of seam sealer...

I will do that!! I would hate to do all this work to get the antenna there and then ruin the top interior! I'll pick up some sealant tonight and put it on there!!

THANKS!!

I ran the wire under the lens around the perimeter outside the gasket then up through the bottom so water couldn't follow the cable past the gasket against gravity. If you look at mine closely, you can see the cable through the lens near the edge around the right side of it. It runs all the way around to the middle of the bottom of the lens then under the gasket.

dont use silicon on the body of a truck it will make it rust. keep a watch on it leaking it will run down the middle of your rear window if it starts to. my light up there leaked from the factory. you can go by a glass company and get some of the black goey tape they use to put in windsheilds and backglasses it will make a great seal just get enough to go all the way around the light and they probally wont charge you but a couple bucks for a 1 ft piece of it or probally just give it to you free.

I've never used silicone and have had no problems. Have pulled 3rd brake light several times, most recently to swap with a smoked one, and have never had a leak. The '09's 3rd brake lights are different from the '04-'08s though.

Looks good, thats where I put mine on my 03, made sure to put a dip in the wire so no water drips would follow the wire into the cab, worked out well for me.

I used weatherstripping instead of silicone on this truck, but I also don't have an antenna to worry about runnin, this way would seem easier cuz you could probably notch out a portion to run the cable

Nope, but it can cause repainting problems.
