Sirius on Aftermarket HU

Alright so im already a member of Sirius sattelite radio and i just got a Pioneer AVIC F900BT HU. I called the Sirius company to get them to transfer the sattelite radio from a handheld radio i have to the HU. But they told me i have to purchase something for $100 to be able to get it on the HU! Are they ripping me off or do i have to buy this thing?!

Yep gotta pay to add the Sirius to the Pioneer. That's pretty much the way it is with any deck. If you want a direct connect kit, which allows you to use and control it through the Pioneer, it costs about 100 or so bucks depending on where you get it.

I looked around at three different sites and they all were around 100-120 for the Sirius kit for that deck.

When you say handheld radio, do you mean a plug and play? If so, you can get a car kit for alot less (ebay) if you don't already have one.

If you decide to use the Sirius P&P radio (given its a Sportster 3, 4 or 5; A Starmate 3, 4 or 5; A Stratus 3, 4 or 5; or a Stiletto) you will need a Pioneer CD-SB10 and a DEI SCVDOC1

I'll respond this one last time, then I will stop thread jacking and let 4X4AUTIGER have his thread back...lets move this conversation to the other thread.

I already have the box done. Nothing special. I have some MDF cut to mount on the floor for the amps and whatnot, but not a lot of wood on this install.

4X4AUTIGER - Sorry for the tangent...but like I was saying, I do have all the parts needed to add Sirius to your truck with that head unit and I promise I can do you right as I have no use for these things otherwise. One thing I will point out (at the risk of scaring you away) with our head units and Sirius:

The readout for the station and song info is HORRIBLE with Sirius. While with XM you can read channel, artist, and title all at once, with SIRIUS you can only see one at a time and have to cycle through. Not a big deal, but it was REALLY annoying. The only reason I don't want to sell this is I hate to have an icon on my source menu be grayed out......is that wrong?
