Did I hear correctly?!?!
So I bought my truck in Nov., came with free Sirius for 6 months. It is about to expire so I call to renew. They offer me 3 months for $12.95, basically buy one, get two free. But then the lady tells me after this 3 month period, my service will automatically continue and I will be charged the normal monthly charge of $36??????? Huh? And I asked over and over, are you sure it goes up to $36/month??? How can it go from $12.95/month to $36 and change??? Tell me they are joking or the lady had no clue...

I would say she has no clue that doesn’t sounds right at all. I would call back and try to get someone else. Their website says you could buy month to month for 12.95 each month or there are better deals if you buy it for longer periods of time like buy 24 months get 3 free.
They are already losing customers due to HD radio imagine if it really were $36 per month. It wouldn't be long before they were out of business.

Is this because they count the lifetime radio as your primary radio and the other 2 as a 2nd and 3rd radio?

I'm certainly against monopolies and I don't agree at all with their argument that they compete with HD radio and mp3 players but the FCC should mandate a price cap on the service, at least for awhile. Also, the sat companies have stated that they would not object to this. The flip side is that they stay separate until one goes under and then the other as a monopoly with no rules in place for what they charge.

I'm kind of in a delima. I listen to both XM and Sirius but only listen to a couple of stations on each (50 on XM and 30 on Sirius). I like Sirius 30 better then the XM station. I have two Fords so the sat tuner is built into both. But lets face it, the built in radios are _CRAP_ when compared to the external units (radios with Nav are obviously much better). On my external XM tuner I can see whats playing on about 9 stations at one time and also scroll through them all without having to listen to each station and wait while it tunes in. That is really annoying! My external XM can also be paused and save up to 30 minutes of data. So I like the external XM radio better then the built in Sirius radio but I like the Sirius content better. But the cost of maintaining both subscriptions is killing me. I can get a year of XM for $77 but a year of Sirius costs another $144! Almost $200/year just for my 2 radios (I'm also paying another $6/month for my parents XM radio). If the companies merge then they should bill me for 1 primary and 2 secondary radios. Much better for me!
