FM Modulator or XMDirect?

Does anyone know if the '05 F150 Audiophile Stereo supports an XMDirect connection or do I need to go the FM Modulator route? I have an existing SkyFi I wold like to use.

Have to use the FM Mod. There is no adapters out for our radios yet.

You may also consider the XM MyFi unit. It has a built in FM transmitter and thus, installation can be a snap. It's just as simple as turning it on...

Even better, it's totally portable and has a built-in antenna.

RP :D

Do I detect a sense of possibility in the future?

I just spoke to an installer at CarToys who says since the head unit has an AUX button, he can use a DPS (audio only) converter which would eliminate the need for the FM modulator.

He said and I quote "If you can tell me for 100% sure you have an AUX button on the head unit, I can tell you with a 100% certainty I can do a direct connect and by-pass FM modulation. Gives you the best sound".

I am handy with software, not really too good with hardware, so the prices he quoted were:

Converter - $89
Car Kit - $70
Wire - $14
Labor - $120
______________
$302 + Tax

I have the same system and after a little research I came across this from terk xm commande:

This intelligently designed satellite Receiver works with all car stereos through FM modulation or direct-connect RCA line-out. :smoke:

You seriously need to look at another store as well. Car toys is the most expensive installer and retailer in all of Houston and Dallas and will over charge on anything they can. Just call one other store and get a quote, I'm begging you. That place makes entirely too much money off of people in that respect.

That labor qoute is way to high for a thirty to forty-five minute install while it sits in the back for two hours.

I have that same unit, however when I installed it, my FM reception got much worse. Have you experienced the same?
