Academy raceway tonight

Anyone who wants to come see some good runs, the track near Temple, Tx is having a truck shootout tonight.

BTW im supposed to run, anyone have any suggestions, or want to guess what my ET will be?

Stealth 01-26-2007 09:16 PM

Well, that all depends on if the track's 1/8 or 1/4 mile.

haha those were some impressive runs, get some gears and a stall and youll break 15's

stoffer 01-27-2007 11:05 AM

Dude i've had a run out at TAD where I didn't spin the hell out of the tires. the last time I ran I was still spinning at the 60ft mark. Not bad though my best time was a 14.8 bone stock and my wife pulled off a 14.9 (that was in the Harley Truck) I hope to tpuch the 14's with the Lariat after some engine upgrades and a rebuild.

Patman 01-27-2007 01:12 PM

Yah i really wanted to win my last race, b.c i know i could have, i just had a ****ty launch, and it was getting colder through the night, so it was getting harder too

but thanks guys, i wish paul could have video-ed some of my runs from the outside, but I still had a blast :rocker:

Hey Pat... I'm from Academy. Home of the Bumblebees! My whole family is from there and I have spent some time at the strip there. Best part? At the end of the track you can stop in and have a cold beer and shoot some pool at Jerry's. The little bar at the end is a dive but it's been there long before we were ever born. My dad used to work/race at the strip and he would go in the bar after hours to drink after he got off from the track.

Patman 02-11-2007 11:42 PM

hi Ktexas, im not sure of the bar thing you are talking about, but it sure is a old run down track. and needs some mainance, and i heard the humidity is really high b.c its right next to a creek....

Im just hoping to get a better time with alot better traction, maybe on a different track
-Patrick

ktexas 02-12-2007 12:32 AM

Yeah that track is really old, but its almost a landmark now. The bar is right by the hwy (hwy 93) its the only building between the track and the road.

stoffer 02-14-2007 03:17 AM

what is that liquid they spray onto the track surface, off the back of the quad??? my buddies lighting ran a 13.3 in Houston but couldn't get better than a mid 14's at TAD because of wheel spin. but that little black S-10 seems to do well for some reason.

ktexas 02-14-2007 10:30 AM

I'm not sure. Houston Raceway is a lot different than little ol' Academy dragstrip huh?

HI!... The liquid they spray on the track is called VHT. It's like a glue. I've been on tracks that if you walk the starting line you will lose your shoe. :D

Flareside150 02-15-2007 07:29 PM

I guess my 4x4 is killing my track times and I have a reg cab. I am troyer tuned, flowmaster catback and a k&n 77 series intake. I ran 17.303 at 79.12mph with my 22's on and I ran high 17.3XX the year before in Epping with stock rims and the bfg all terrains.
