Drag Racing
Does anyone actually race these things, or am i the only one?
|
The Lightning guys do a lot of racing and they're running some pretty awesome times...there are also some pretty hot single cabs running some good numbers as well...And, I've seen some posts were some supercharged extended cabs and super crews will put it on you, if you don't bring your "A" game...
Hopefully some of these guys will join in... |
I run mine the fridays im off I run 15.3's guess thats not to bad for a 6000#

I race my HD.
Best time of 13.502 @ 101mph  |
Im running a 1988 f150 long bed. It has the 5.0, ford racing underdrive pulleys, MSD ignition, flowmaster exhaust, summit racing gear-drive, 4:30 gears, lakewood tracion bars, and a 100shot of nitrous. I havent done nething else to the engine, BONE STOCk, the key is timing.
Only made 1 run but didnt have enough nitrous, should have filled but before i went to the track. Runs 60'- 2.100 1/8- 9.48 Speed- 71.08mph Its pretty exciting staging next to a 5.0 mustang and being able to blow the doors of off it. I am ordering the edelbrock intake, heads, cam, and headers. I am also going to swap out the stock suspension and get some hoosier slicks, hopefully ill get into the 7's so i can add a role cage!!! |

I want some type of set up like that for my SCEW truck. It's good for a daily driver, but just needs a lil more power. You know? |

You know? As far as mods go, I have a 6lb lower pulley, JLP Ram Air induction kit, TR6 plugs and the tuning is by Troyer Performance (with an Xcal2) The blower is the standard Eaton. I also have LFP 58" traction bars and the run was done on Hankook 295/40/20 street tyres. I've had a few people call me out on this one so here's a video of the run. You can hear the blower screaming over the music on the P.A. system  http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...damvsChevy.jpg |
I've raced my Lightning a few times but I've never run my 4x4. Best time so far with the Lightning was 12.9 @ 107 in the 1/4.

THAT IS SICK MAN!!
I thought the HD was the same weight as My F150 around 7000 lbs or more... Thats really impressive for a larger truck.

How big a boy are you? i had my truck on the scales at the local dump weighed in at 4800 with my lil brother. he weighs maybe 170. So needless to say those scales were a tad off. I really want to get on some acurate trucker scales sometime. -Patrick |
I weighed my truck on the NHRA certified scales at Houston Raceway Park when I first had it over there.
It weighed 5590lb exactly but this was before the traction bars were fitted. My truck had a bedcover and bedliner so that's a few extra pounds there. |
ima try running my truck sometime this week.i'll get back you you guys on it. anybody else 0-60 around 8.5 or so. or am i slower then normal

Your 9.48E.T in the 1/8 would be a 14.78E.T in the 1/4 mile. :fyi: I've got a "99" F-150, reg-cab, shortbox, stepside. Built 5.4 in N/A trim. Made 354RWH.P and 392RWTQ with 8.42:1 compression and NO tune. Last time to the track I ran 13.60E.T on 7 cylinders. Found out later I broke a compression ring in cylinder #5. On all 8 it should of run around a 13.1 - 13.2E.T. 60FT was 1.83 on NITTO drag radials. 0 - 60MPH is around 4.5 seconds. :D |
I've never raced any of the fords i've owned, but I run my 02 Silverado, under it's current setup it ought to run 11.50's 1/4 mile on motor.

my 5.4 reg cab with just an intake did 15.9 at California speedway, is that good?

My 02 Chevy Reg Cab 4.8 only ran 15.6's-16.0's in stock trim, and it was a light 2wd, so i'd be happy with 15.9! |
went to track on sat. 2001 supercrew 5.4l 3.55 gears. 5140LBS with driver went
15.60@86.16 in quarter 9.90@69 in eight. Mods are bolt-on's |
I love the smell of burning rubber
I race the Lightning all the time, and even took the Bronco down the track one night this past summer https://www.f150online.com/galleries...8-34-75040.jpg |

I now have a new transmision, got the new engine dialed in a lot better. So if I can get to the track with say only 10 gallons of gas, and running better, I bet I can run a high 15 second run |
