Double posting.

Can someone please tell me why my replies seem to double post. I'll reply to a post and it will double post either part or all of my reply.

Thank you,
Rich

Rich,

I'm not sure why, but it appears that there was some problem with the system. I noticed the "double" entries within posts happened on a number of posts last light. Early this morning I tried to reply to a thread twice, but got an error each time. I was able to reply to a different one later. Hopefully, whatever the problem was, it has been resolved.

Hmmm, it's still happening. Here's an obvious example that I just came across:

Edit: Never mind the above thread reference. SlapPAddle was able to go in later and edit out most of the original post.

I don't know if the webmaster is aware of the problem.
It just happened to me.
Some kind of wrap going on after the submit button is hit.

Ths post come out something like this

Line 1............
Line 2.............
Line 1.............
Line 2..............
Line 3.............
Line 4..............
Line 5.............

Don't know if it's post over a certain length
or posts that contain quotes in it or what.

webmaster 01-17-2004 06:12 PM

I'm not actually seeing it. Every example that I am being directed to looks perfectly normal.

So, the text looks correct in the entry form when you hit the submit button, but when it actually appears in the post itself it is garbled in some way?

FWIW, I would run anti-virus with the latest dats on your computers, just in case a virus may be the culprit. I looked over at the forum vendor's website and there has been no mention of anything like this...

Can anyone supply other links for me. The one noted above was edited by the original poster...

Here's one:
https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...hreadid=143128

It's the orginal post by odin's wrath (number one)

If you read it you can see the repeats.

I fixed mine, I guess most people are.
I read sirket and 01XLT Sport complaining about it yesterday in one of their long debate threads.

Raoul 01-17-2004 07:24 PM

Steve check this out, it's easier to see.

I thought maybe the quote feature was causing it.
But it appears to be any post that has long lines.

Here is my long sentence test:

Good idea and great work Raoul! Now let's hope that Sirket and 01 XLT Sport don't see the test thread start debating the merits of the quote you used (in the context of the current political issues):D

I'm still confused as to what is happening, more specifically how to reproduce it. I see the duplication of lines. When does this happen? When a thread is edited? Does it show up after hitting the submit button? (i.e. it looks good when you submit, but once you see it in the thread it's duplicated? What do the 21 repeated lines represent? Did you only type that line once? Did you edit it? Again, I see what is happening, but I have no idea how to reproduce it myself...???

richgonfishn 01-17-2004 11:15 PM

Edit..

I've actually gone back into a post of mine (edit) and tried to delete the double post. I hit submit and it still is the same. It doesn't happen everytime. Very weird!!

Raoul 01-17-2004 11:25 PM

It looked good before the submit button is hit.
I typed 21 long lines with a carriage return after each then indicated where I hit submit.

When it showed up as a thread,
it had lines 1 thru 21
then it started over with line 7 thru 21 (the bad stuff)
then it had my final line at the bottom.

I did not edit.

Short posts like this do not have the error, there is some point on longer posts when the duplication occurs.

Steve,

It seems to depend on how long the original post is. For example I type most my post in Word (Times New Roman size 12 font) to “hopefully” insure my spelling and grammar is ok.

It seems if I go more then a page in Word and then paste it into F150 it is fine. I hit the submit button and you get the problem.

When that happen the first time I tried to edit it. When you go to edit it, it comes up in the edit window as it just came out in the post (duplicate lines, some missing words towards the end) I edited it in F150, cutting out the duplicate lines etc. Hit submit again and it just reappears as it was before (duplicate lines etc)

As I said it seems to happen when I go more then one page in word. If I have a reply with quotes and my own comments that go say a page in a half and it does not come out right on F150 I can fix it by going back and “only” posting no more then a page worth in Word and that seems to post just fine with no problems.

Hope that helps a little…

Here is some testing or playing around I did that might help or be of interest...

Are you typing the message into the form manually or are you copy/pasting it from Word??

Are the others experiencing this problem copy/pasting from a Word processor or typing the message directly into the box?

What happens if you type the exact same message into the form, not using copy/paste from Word?
