Smile Blown Head Gasket (Taurus)

I don't know how often anyone checks this section but I had to post this here. Ford really took care of me when I blew a head gasket in my Taurus a couple weeks ago. Actually, it would be more acurate to say I blew my engine! At 66,000 miles and no warranty left Ford picked up all but $500 of the bill due to a poorly designed cooling system and numerous TSB's on the subject. My dealer ordered the engine last week. I only wish they had picked up the bill for a rental or gave me a loaner. I'm trying to sell my other car but now the wife has to drive it until her car is fixed. Anyway, thanks Ford!

Mine's a 97 with the 3.0L engine. The 95-99's all have the same cooling system. The 2000's may as well but they got a cosmetic overhaul this year so I don't know what else Ford improved. There are tons of TSB's for late model Taurus' at the NHTSA website. Check it out at http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov

Mine is a 97 also... I have to say I don't trust this car. I have had the trany replaced and of course the switch that wont let the thing come out of park twice. Brake switch I think they call it. What is the trouble with the cooling system? The Taurus (my 2nd one) is the bigest pile of crap I have ever owned. They shuold scrap the name because every person I talk to has a problem with them. Bad reputation...bad bad bad.
