Post Bad Cell on Motorcraft Battery w/ 1500 miles

The above subject says it all. Now I've got to take off work, drive to dealer in other vehicle, exchange battery, come back home, re-install, reset clock, compass, presets, etc. By the way, positive terminal cover broke off when opening. Ford, are you listening?

Coach: It is frustrating when your new truck goes down for something as simple as the "old technology lead acid battery". If it makes you feel a little better, this is a very rare problem. Ford doesn't make their batteries, and I really don't know who their current vendor is right now. Consumer Reports gave the Motorcraft batteries a very good rating late last year, and I do know that there are a lot of these type still out there cranking away years later. I hope your luck on the rest of the truck holds..bad battery beats a door crack hands down for warranty problems that have been posted here! j.b.

Sorry!!I'm surprised that they would exchange it for you without analyzing and installing themselves under warranty. Hopefully your new one will be better!!!!

Your right. Roadside assistance had to tow it in, dealer analyzed, and confirmed "bad cell". The replaced it at no charge and I was back on my way home. The Texas heat could have taken a toll on the battery, even at 1500 miles. Anyway, Ford handled satisfactorily. It was a minor nuisance, but as usual, sh*t happens.
