Complete specs.. where can I get 'em?

I just purchased a 1988 F150 4x4 4.9L I6 5 speed and am wondering where I can go to get a complete set of specs for this thing?

I want to know all the gory details like hp/torque, decode the VIN, axle ratios, fuel tank size, you name it! It didn't come with the original owner's manual.

Thanx in advance!

(for those wondering, I paid $2700 canadian$ [something like $1700 us$] certified for it and I'll post some pix as soon as I get around to taking some... tomorrow perhaps).

I don't remember the horsepower and torque ratings, but i think it has around 170 horsepower. As for the axle ratios that is on your certification label in the drivers door jamb.

You can email Ford and ask them for the torque and HP ratings. I dont have the address, but its floating around somewhere on here.

Specs. books are floating around on Ebay. I'm not sure what all they include but they look pretty thick. Something like this one

I would at least get an '87-'91, but try to get your specific year.

If you want to give me some axle codes/vin 's# etc. I can decode it for you.

If you buy a Chiltons repair manual it will have the answers to most of your questions and is a must have if you plan on tearing in to anything very complicated.
