Can ya'll show your pre-1997 lifts?
Hey everybody, I would really appreciate if you would show me your lifts because i've been thinkin about it, and wondering what all the different ones would look like, if you look at my website you can see my truck and you tell me what you think might look best cus i may be gettin some different wheels and tires if i get the lift, i'm thinkin some 15 X 10's and some 33's or 35's, i mean, if it's a 4X4 i like to see it lifted, i am just that way, and i want my truck to be the sh*t around here, well I thank you all very much for your promoting of pictures, in advance. Thanks!

I'll be posting some pics of my truck as soon as spring break rolls around and I can take some more. Give me about four weeks. BTW, I have a 1990 F-150 4x4 with a 4" suspension lift, 35x12.50 Dunlop mud terrains, and 15x10" rims.

Check out my signature for a pic. This pic is with a 4" lift and 35" tires. I now also have a 3" body lift and will hopefully soon have 39" Swampers.

Thanks. and by the way, your truck looks hella sweet

well, the 351/c6 combo is great for what i use it for. it it will pull a house down, but it's running like crap right now so my gas mileage sucks right now. it's about 8 mpg. my trucks needs serious attention right now, so ! highway mileage is ok when it is running good like 13 mpg considering engine and tranny. remember that a c6 has no o/d. if you do serious wheeling or pull a lot of stuff go for the c6, if you do a little of each i would go for the e4od. it's not that bad of a tranny.

Ford4ever,
What kind of Super Swampers do you have? I'm trying to figure out which ones I want to go with next time. How do yours ride, perform, wear? I'm thinking of either the TSL's or the Boggers. I want to go with 35x14.50/15's so those are the two front runners right now. Any tips, comments would be appreciated! |
TF,
the TSL's and boggers are really different tires.. what are you gonna use them for? if its mudding, then definitely the boggers. bad thing about boggers, the street will KILL them. TSL's are a good all-around off road tire. hope this helps! |
Donate,
Well, I love to mud, but to be honest I try to do it in moderation. Mud is hard on a daily driver, so I'm really looking for an all around off-road tire. If I was smart, I'd go with a tire like the BFG A/T, but we all know practicality isn't an ordinary trait for a 21 year old. They're a great tire, but to me they're just not meaty enough. These older trucks are just starving for agressive, beefy tires and the TSL and the Bogger are about as beefy as they come. I would go with the TSL because I like how they look the best, but I was informed that they are even worse than the Bogger on road. I was rather curious as to which tires ford4ever has on his truck because it says in his signature that he has 35x12.50 15R swampers, but the only swampers that come in those dimensions are the Thornbirds and the SSR's. And those certainly don't look like either from what I can tell from the picture. But they look bad-a$$ so I figure I'd ask. To me, tires can make or break a truck. They're crucial to the looks and performance of a truck so I want to gather as much information as I can before I spend $1100 on my next set of tires. I guess a tire that isn't too high of maintenance for all the on-road driving I do, but something that will definately grip all kinds of terrain off-road, while compromising nothing in the way of appearance is what I'm looking for. I guess I want to have my cake and eat it too :) |
Get a set of Swamper Radials. I run 36's on my 89 and they ride good on the road and get plenty of traction off road.
|
you know you can go with a set of bfg mud terrains k/m. i like the mud terrains, wish i would have gotten them rather than the a/t i have now. lots of guys use em for rock crawling. i know they were good for me in the snow. better than a/t's. just my 2 cents. curt
btw the thornbirds do look basa$$ tho. i have seen them on trucks but those trucks never leave the pavement so i dont know about offroading with them. |
If you like the rough rugged look and the better traction I would go with the Swampers over the BFG. The Thornbirds do look great but been there done that, I like my radials better. The Thornbirds like to clog up. But if you dont do very much and not very muddy mudding you could go with the BFG they are cheaper. I have had a set or two my self, but it might just be but I have had a couple pairs cup on me. Just my .08 cents.
