I'm trying to fix up my grandfathers old ford and when i went to started it started right up after refueling and a little gas in the carb now i gave it a tune up batteries, starter, starter solenoid, and carb now it wont start and i can tell if its getting a spark? it turns over and will keep cranking but no fire? any suggestions...
its a 4.9l

 

Check the points and condenser?

 

1980 is electronic.

Test for spark with this:

Will it start if you pour a bit of gas in the carb? If it does then stalls right out, your fuel pump is shot or the fuel filter is clogged. After 7 years of sitting, you should have dropped the fuel tank and cleaned it out.

 

Agreed. 7 year old gas is probably separated and congealed and stinking like old varnish.
