1986 F150 302 trans cooler lines

Hello all, I am trying to help my son who is on the other side of the country, in Oregon by phone call and text messages. . He has a 1986 F150 302 2wd and is in the process of replacing the radiator. The transmission cooler lines are not budging. The question I have is, what is used to replace or repair these lines? Do you have to custom bend and flare new lines? Or can a repair be done using rubber hose and clamps? Or can they be purchased?

LMC has replacement lines.

www.lmctruck.com

1980-1996 Ford Truck/Bronco catalog, page 123.

Good auto parts stores that have a machine shop can make up new lines. After 30 years you probably should replace them.

Tell him to try heat. Can't hurt the old rad, he's throwing it away anyway.

Would this work as a replacement for the transmission cooler lines?

That doesn't come with the fittings for the cooler or radiator end.

Try www.inlinetube.com. Their site links you to several pages of listings of their products on both ebay and amazon. If you don't find just what you need, I would call inlinetube direct.

If his truck has a transmission cooler in front of the rad (or if he wants to just add one), he can just bypass that heat exchanger in the rad completely and just go straight out to the cooler with rubber lines.
You only need the heat exchanger for severe cold weather (Alaska).

Shouldn't do that. The ATF relies on the radiator not only for cooling, but it also provides heat during the winter. Running the fluid too cold is just as bad as running it too hot.
