A transformaton for the better?
Well, as some of you know my father and i had taken on a body swap with a 1990 f250. It has been quite the adventure! Anyway, i came across a reasonably priced half ton parts truck for my projects. It has a decent front clip. The front clip on ours is, well, unacceptably rusted. So im gonna start a build thread from where we are sitting in the transformation from a bucket of rust, to a well dressed up farm truck! Dad made me a deal before I sold my '97. If i sold my truck i could have the one he and i built. After some tooth and nail fighting on the sale of my truck i posted it and sold my first "child" and adoped a new toy. Now for the few pics i've got to whore.
The beast we are speaking of. https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...02385031_n.jpg https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...12922345_n.jpg Front clip. (if you look closely you can see the doors that are going on as well in the back ground.) https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...95582898_n.jpg Parts truck https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...62380052_n.jpg it will be about a week before any progress is made on the truck. It will be used for our rifle season before it can have some down time. Feel free to insert some ideas and or tips. im only 16 and will be learning as i go! |
im ready to do a front clip swap too.... Throw me a donor truck if you've got a few lying around

For sure the '92-'97HD front ends are way better than Ford's ugliest '87-'91. I'm down to only one of those in the fleet now.
You are also way ahead with a tougher truck than the '97+. Adrianspeeder |

well, there isn't much to add. The A/C never worked on this truck, so dad and i decided it would be better to spend money on an A/C delete. The pulley came in today and i installed it. After install i put the compressor back on my black 3/4 ton, pulled the A/C lines, condenser, and soon to remove the refrigerant radiator.

Well, i hope to pull it into the shop and pull the clip off tomorrow. Broke the damn door handle the other day... it will be getting the steel handles from the 81-86's eventually. I personally think it has earned its stay. Pulled a load of hay in and could hardly tell it was back there, the occasional sway from the trailer due to the sh¡t roads here in SW IA, and the steady drop of the gas gauge! Ill post any updates (if any) tomorrow night.

Well, dad wanted a vinyl floor put in place of the carpet in the cab. I got that swapped around, then pulled the new front clip in and pulled it apart. The core support is a little rustier than previously thought... Now im just debating on what im going to do to fix it. i think i know a kid that totalled his truck, but it was a front end collision and im not sure how the core support held up.

no progress whatsoever. In the process of designing the extension. Here is a photo to POSSIBLY get someone's attention so im not talking to myself.

It was illegal to drive on the road, ALWAYS getting pulled over. They changed the height laws in this state shortly after I built it, -got rid of it. |
jeez ! lol. that sucks

Adrianspeeder I put it to the test, having fun, - filled the pigs with swamp juice twice, until incorping threaded breathers. |
