Air Temp = Big Change???

Hi Everyone,

I have a 96 F250, 4x4, E4OD, 460cid. When the air temp outside is above approximately 85 F, it sounds like the RMPs are running high and shifts HARD and the engine feels rough, but the RPMs are normal. With cooler air temps (35-45 F), especially now, it runs smooth as hell! We don't have to deal much with humidity changes here. There is a little pink vacuum hose running from the EGR to the intake manifold tree that was brittle and broken. I tried repairing it and then plugging both ends with no change. I have been doing trial-and-error for 2 years now. I'm in southern New Mexico which means I get to try outside temp differences as much as 40 F, per day. It can be 85 F on December 1st, and below freezing the day after. The engine is stock and I've pretty much just been observing things till this point. Any Ideas???
