1986 6-cyl 300 Oil Leak
I have a 1986 F150 2WD with the 300ci 6-cylinder.
Recent work: -Pulled the valve cover and cleaned out the return galleys -Replaced the valve cover with new gasket -Replaced the PCV valve After this, I had problems with an oil-starved top end...had to replace the oil pump. Since then it has developed a condition where it is blowing oil out of the crankcase vent filter...a lot of oil. I can pull off the vent filter and see it puffing out at idle. I need some help figuring out what to look at. This has me beat right now. Thanks for any ideas, -simpson |
Excessive blow-by. Probably time for an overhaul. However, you can try using AutoRX to desludge it.

On a 300 six a compression test is pretty easy and it will tell you where the problem lies. There's a good chance your rings are leaking by.

I will do a compression test on it this week.
Hope that I can de-sludge it...no money for an overhaul. -simpson |
