Clockspring Replacement

I'm having horn trouble that is most probably the result of a bad clockspring. From reading these forums, this is a common problem. I don't know if this is a repost, but below are links to videos that give pretty good instructions on making the repair:

These aren't my videos, but I am grateful to the guy who made them. Going to save me a bit of money.

I have a 96 f250 that had the same problem. No horn and no cruise control. To make it worse I couldn't find a new one anywhere! The closest I could find was for a 94 and I guess they aren't supposed to be compatible.

I fixed the problem last week. Took of the steering wheel apart and removed the clockspring just like you see in the video above. I then dismantled the clockspring to find the "spring" part (I guess) is nothing more than a ribbon cable. Dismantling was pretty straight forward and easy. This cable was split in two. I spliced the ribbon cable back together, put the clockspring back together (very easy to do), plugged everything in and now I have my horn and cruise back!!! It only took me a couple of hours and no money spent! I hope this helps.
