Edelbrock Intake

Considering adding this to my 5.0 for the eventual swap. Any one use this? Advertised as "up to" 37 HP without affecting bottom end torque. I think it would compliment the exhaust and Fipk I have for it and maybe add the BBK 56mm throttle body. Also I think I might borrow some ideas from another members truck that I just recently saw in person. Like a filter for the trans fluid and remote start (if I ditch the 5 spd) |
its alot of money for sutch a small gain. u can get remote start for a stick just got to make sure its in nutral

I wonder whose truck that was?? Lol. From what I've heard, the stock intake flows just fine for those mods. If you had a 351 it'd be a different story, but the 302 intake should be fine. Lemme see if I can find some threads on it.

if u were ganna tak eit apart id just take it to a machine shop and have them sonic dip it to get all the carbon out of it then run a bigger throttle body

Here's a post from Gacknar over at FSB, who really knows his stuff. I'm still lookin for more info on it, but here:
http://www.fullsizebronco.com/forum/...96&postcount=4 I forgot that your truck had a cam in it, but I still think that the stock intake would be fine, you're still running the stock 19 pound injectors right? The best gains for the money are GT40 heads with the GT40 upper\lower intake too, much cheaper, and you'd probably get even more gains. |

I'm sure its just fine but i think it would help with some future ideas as well. Such as upgraded injectors, heads, and programming. They guys at Motorvation say they can tune for just about anything. I just have to drop the specs to them. My goal is to make 325hp and about 360tq.

Before dropping that kind of $ on it, maybe build the truck to the point where you need that extra flow, then get one. The stock intake flows plenty for most applications, so wait until you get to the point that it doesn't flow enough? BTW when you do the engine swap maybe you could throw some of the higher flow disc-type injectors in there? Direct swap, still 19 pounds, just flow better and atomize the fuel better. I can elaborate on those if ya want me to.

Yep, or off a thunderbird. Not sure on the head gaskets, just make sure you have the room for valves you need.

The only specs that I've found are for the MLS head gaskets. I didn't see any of them that were thinner than .040". The thickest were .042". I can't find the thickness for an O.E. head gaskets anywhere. I'm sure I can get away with .005"-.010" difference at least. This is all assuming that MLS is actually thinner than O.E. I have never used them, just going by heresay. Is .010" too much of a reduction between O.E. and aftermarket gaskets. Does anyone know the thickness of an O.E. gasket?
