what and where is a erg valve?
 

I am have some small performance problems with my 1995 f 150 2wd 8cyl. My friend said it was my erg valve or egr.. Does anyone know where this is located?

But why don't you tell US what the exact symptoms are, and all the truck's details, and we'll tell you what WE think it is. ;) Fill in your profile so the truck's details show with every post. Put the year (2 digits are enough), engine size, transmission model, trim level, cab/bed configuration & wheelbase, transfer case model (if 4WD), gear ratio, tire size, miles (or KMs), mods, maintenance, damage, repairs, etc. in a signature. i agree with steve no use spending money on somthing u dont need.

but the egr is on the left side conected to the intake had a metal tube goin into the bottem plastic plate on top with a vac line commin out of it

Thank you for answering me so quickly. I was not expecting a answer for a while yet. It shows I am new. My 1995 F-150 XL 8cyl 5.0. 2wd automatic transmission has a problem when I give it the gas it does not speed up to quickly. It will gradually get up to speed. The fuel filter is new. I put some injector cleaner in the gas tank and I still have the problem. The check engine light turns on and off when it wants to. If anybody has any suggestions please let me know.

You need to read the trouble codes out of the computer if the CEL has been coming on. Otherwise, all anyone can do is make total wild@$$ guesses.

This is the only information you've given us. :rolleyes: It could be low ATF or a worn-out transmission. It could be you have too much cargo. Could be oversize tires; exhaust restriction; low fuel pressure; needs a tune-up; blown engine; vacuum leak... Or maybe you're used to driving a sporty little car, and the truck's performance is perfectly normal. There's no way for us to know based on such a brief, subjective description of a perceived problem.

My truck is doing the same thing it will gradually get up to speed and the check engine light will pop up and then go away ive tried to pull codes but it doesnt work. ive replaced the fuel filter like you and replaced the fuel pump as well ive run different cleaners through it ( seafoam, injector cleaner ect) im stumped?

I connect the code reader and the light stays on and the noise is constant no blinking nothing to tell me codes ive run through the key on key off instructions that came with it but every time i try the red light just stays on. :confused: i could be doing it wrong or my code readers not working properly or maybe its the computer?

I highly doubt its the computer, you dont need a code reader either.

Hey I fixed my problem
 

I can not believe I over looked something so simple. I sprayed the intake with carb cleaner. Now its has great pick up. My CEL is still on but I will look into that tomorrow. I hope this fixes your problem. I had a half full can laying around the garage. I figured what the hell and it worked.

I am new to this. I thought I just sent you a message then this came up. I fixed my problem. I sprayed the intake with carb cleaner. The CEL light is still on but it is running great now.
