Smile What is the compacity of my fuel tanks

Okay, this might be a dumb question. But I just bought my first vehicle (an 83 F150 4.9L inline 6 4speed manual) and am going to fill both tanks with my next paycheck, I can't figure out how much gas they hold, it didn't come with a manual and I can't find anything on the truck that says how much they hold, anybody know? Thanks

Not 100% sure, but I thought they were all 17 gallons front and 19 gallons rear.

Nope.
It depends on wheelbase, cab style and drive system just like Adrianspeeder said.

Do you mean capacity instead of whatever you tried to spell?

Okay, but I know for certain, a reg cab long bed had 17 (actually 17.6) and 19 gallon tanks. Had those on my83, 85, and 90. Don't think Ford changed the sizes for ages. Not til the 97 came out.

What does it matter if you're going to full them full? If you really want to know, run them till empty, then fill them up and see how much it takes. Pretty easy.

^ looks like the rear is 19 regardless of configuration and the front could be either 16.5 or 19.

Fill it up and let us know!

You should feel lucky since you have two tanks...I only have one and it is the 16.5 gallon. I have to fill up every 4 days for work!
Thinking of fab'n up two mini kegs to get at least an extra 10 gallons for long trips...

HAHA I guess you wouldn't do that?
I cant seem to find any mini kegs for real cheap so I am actually goin to get two 5 gall fuel tanks. Same ones that jeep's have on their rear rack.
Just drill a hole in the bottom and run a pipe to the gas tank some how. They will sit in the back near the cab and once I have my bed cover no one will even see them!
Just remember...to each thier own

well not if you do it right, Plus I drive 76 miles a day for work on back roads. Really sucks when you have to fill up every 3-4 days. Plus to get to my fiance's parents takes 1 and 1/4 tanks of gas...I just hate having a 16 gallon tank!
