94 F150 2WD - bird feathers in clutch housing

Got the truck back from wife and clutch is suddenly slipping big time. Removed the rubber inspection plug on the housing because I had no other ideas and I can see lots of feathers wrapped and embedded all around the outside of the clutch plate.

1) Any ideas about what happened?
2) Am I in for a big project of dropping transmission, etc.?

We do have chickens, but they're all accounted for!

Ideas welcome.

probly have to drop the trans to inspect the clutch n pressureplat ect. but im assuming u have the m5od "5speed" they are the only ones i know that have inspection plugs
but its easy to drop i put mine up on jacksnands in the back with a 4x4 infront of the wheels put a few block of wood under the engine one ur there it takes 15 mins to get it out

ps. easyer with 2 people. and m5ods are light the t18s are a bitch heavy

but ive done a clutch in a 2wd m5od in and hour and a half taking my time

Took it apart. It took forever and a day to get the frame cross member out. Clutch turned out to look pretty much like I'd seen through the side. Damn mice. Put some pressure on the fingers and cleaned it all out, put it back together, and it works. I'm not an expert, but I don't think this is OEM:

Any body can see that's a clutch for a Thunderbird!

At least the mice are nesting and not eating the wires out of it! Pretty wierd some of the stuff you find.

Yikes! Do you live on sesame street? Looks like someone hit big bird.
