1991 F250 5.8L Trouble Starting (newbie)

this is my firsts post and would appreciate some help.
bought this '91 f250 (only 40,000 mi.) drove it home ran great, was parked for about a week until registered but started occasionally.
now, most of time it only cranks and cranks but won't start. wasn't sure if electrical or gas. thought gas but since plug wires looked pretty bad, cracked etc. so put new plug wires and dist cap and rotor. but still no good. looking at this site and others saw mentionde eer relay and fuel pump relay.
also, listened for fuel pump and could hear, but doesn't stop.
after unplugging and "tapping" those relays it started but later happened again. at first it did start again after tapping but not always.
please help,

i thought about those relays but quite expensive to just buy and try, if i could test them
i'd like it better but also i guess i could go to pick and pull and try a used one.

I have a bucket of them that I've collected at junkyards for basically nothing; I go there & buy a taillight or a transmission, and get a handfull of small stuff like relays, and they don't care about the little crap - they let me have it free when I'm buying something bigger. Same for the sockets. But even if you buy the relays & sockets new at Wal-Mart or a parts store, they're not more than $20 for the full set.

thanks for the answer, i need a front parking light lens anyways so maybe i'll take your advise and pick up one or two. i did look up the relay on Napa online and looks like about $45. you think i should replace the socket too?
thanks,
john
