1990 f150 motor questions?

My dad has a 90 f150 with a 302 in it. We replaced the oil pump last summer and put an oil presure guage in it, when you first start it up it has around 40 lbs and as it gets warm at idle it has around 5 lbs. and it will idle it idles really hard and spits and sputters. idk if its a vacume leak or what also when you get into gear (its and auto) you have to keep your foot on the gas or it will stall.

Thanks for any help

First, the oil pressure is probably worn bearings. The idling concern, take carb cleaner and spray it around the base of the upper plenum and see if the idle picks up. The gaskets always break under there and cause vacuum leaks. If that's it, I suggest getting a new gasket from the Ford dealer for a 92-96 F150 302, because these gaskets are made from a type of plastic and don't break like the older ones.
