96 F-150 Question
i own a 96 f1504x4 302. my bumper has three cutouts on it the middle like were the licnese plate goes the two on the outside are about 2.5inches wide and the one in the middle is about 1.5 inches wide. its not an aftermarket bumper because i see the on 150s,250s,350,s both gas and diesal(sp) anybody know what they are for? any help woulkd be great Thanks Jimmy
Those bumpers were actually for the Powerstroke trucks. Then when ford decided to offer the Eddie Bauer edition f-150, they used that bumper. The holes are to allow more air to the radiator for cooling on the PSD. I've also noticed some 460 trucks have them too. Hope this helps.

I have the same bumper on my 97. I was thinking that I may try to figure a way to mount tow hooks through these openings.
I have not looked at the mounting yet, I just was contemplating it.

If you're speaking of the holes in the bumper that have plastic gaurds on them, I have a fairly original solution... I mounted fog lights in mine - on the inside. There is plenty of room in there, and it looks pretty slick. I have a 4X2, so they are pretty close to the ground, and do a good job of cutting fog. It works out that there are two holes on the inside edge directly above the holes that you can use to mount things to... given the proper use of angle brackets of course :-)
